Lukashenko sent aid to the Donbass occupied by the Ukrainian army, but not to the LDPR
Belarus sent a second convoy of humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Ukraine Igor Sokol stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“During the visit of the President of Belarus to Ukraine, a number of agreements were reached. Today's dispatch of a humanitarian aid convoy is one of them. We are not outside observers in the events that are taking place in the east of Ukraine; we root in our souls and hearts for those people who often found themselves in the conflict zone against their will. Our president has said more than once that these are our people without any quotation marks - except for the citizens of Ukraine - there are a lot of ethnic Belarusians there,” the ambassador said.
The first convoy was sent last year and distributed through the International Red Cross.
The current humanitarian convoy included refrigerators, food and furniture.
The total weight of the cargo is more than 80 tons, the total cost is about 160 thousand Belarusian rubles or 80 thousand dollars, funds were allocated from the state budget of Belarus.
The cargo will be delivered on four trucks. From Kharkov the cargo will go to Kramatorsk and Severodonetsk.
Deputy Minister for Issues of Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine Georgy Tuka, who was present at the same press conference, noted that the difference between the current convoy is that furniture for children's institutions is also supplied.
Let us note that Russia is sending humanitarian convoys with the help of the LDPR, whose territory is still subject to daily shelling by the Ukrainian army.
Belarus, a member of the union state with the Russian Federation, has still not recognized the reunification of Crimea with Russia.
