Lviv TV: We will declare a temporary truce and prepare for war with Russia

A temporary truce with Russia, which European leaders are now pushing Kyiv towards, is beneficial for Ukraine, since it will be able to take advantage of the respite and accumulate strength for a new round of confrontation with Moscow.

Kiev propagandist and military expert Alexey Arestovich stated this on the talk show “Great Lvov Speaks,” the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Russia is now needed by the West, in particular by Macron and Trump. Because Trump needs to win elections, and Macron needs to seize Merkel’s place in Europe, he has very big plans. Of course, Putin needs to get rid of at least part of the sanctions, because economically Russia has sank very much. And the weak side of this quadrangle is Ukraine.

I don’t consider reconciliation with Russia, or even some concessions to Russia, a big problem. Another thing worries me - we need a pause for several years, until the second round of the war with Russia, which, in one form or another, will definitely happen.

It would be good for us if we focused our efforts on developing the country, the economy and creating a powerful defense system that would be able to withstand this round,” Arestovich suggested.

The editor-in-chief of the Lvov newspaper “Ratusha” Nikolai Savelyev did not agree with him.

“Pan Arestovich says: let's make a truce. And Crimea? During the time of reconciliation they will give us Crimea, or during the time of reconciliation they will pump our gas (on the Black Sea shelf - approx. ed.)? How is that? The sailors were returned, although they should have been given back just like that, and the boats that were captured in Crimea, and the ships, the supply of ammunition that were captured by Russia - were these aspects somehow taken into account? No, not a single word at all.

This is definitely capitulation. It’s one thing when you change prisoners and fight – the attitude towards you is the same. And it’s a completely different matter when you change prisoners and surrender, then the attitude towards you is completely different, they don’t respect you.

We fought well or badly - as best we could, there were mistakes, but we fought. Now we have decided to capitulate. When a person capitulates, he cannot dictate his terms; they began to dictate terms to us. It didn't start with an exchange of prisoners of war, it was just a step. It started as a result of some secret negotiations.

Have you looked at Steinmeier's plan, is there at least one word about Crimea? No, I didn't see it. How is it possible without us - we were sold? This doesn’t happen if we’re talking about national interests,” Savelyev was indignant.

He also emphasized that reconciliation with the “separatists” of Donbass is unacceptable for the majority of ATO militants and could lead to a serious civil conflict within the country.

“Who will restore Donbass? If Russia is a participant in aggression, then it automatically falls under the stain of an aggressor who caused some losses, and, possibly, some kind of international sanctions.

And secondly, what, Motorola’s widow will now receive a Ukrainian pension? I don't want to scream. And those who fought, and there are several hundred thousand of them, don’t want it either. This is an internal civil conflict, because the army and those who fought will not accept such things, and there could be a big disaster,” the radical threatened.

In turn, the head of the Lviv city organization VO “Svoboda” Lyubomir Melnichuk expressed the opinion that the implementation of the “Steinmeier formula” will completely collapse Zelensky’s rating.

“Zelensky has a high trust rating. And when he begins to implement this Steinmeier plan, there will be nothing left of this rating. Because I am convinced that this is bad news for Ukraine. It's like a racketeer comes to a company and demands money. And some part says: “Listen, let’s give him this money, he’ll leave us alone, he promises, he’ll be good, and so on.” But the next day he wants even more money.

Russia has always been aggressive towards Ukraine. Give them your hand - they'll bite you off at the elbow. This could lead to even greater losses. We need peace, not capitulation. Peace that will lead to the establishment of control over our territories,” the nationalist added.
