Makei ridiculed the “perverted logic” of Kyiv, which dared to condemn Belarus

Belarus regards Ukraine’s accession to European sanctions as “an absolutely unfriendly step and an attempt to openly interfere in the internal affairs of Belarus.”

This was stated today in Minsk at a joint press conference with Sergei Lavrov by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Vladimir Makei, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Ukraine’s accession to EU sanctions is another, in our opinion, not an independent decision by Ukraine, which demonstrates the inconsistency of the policies of our southern neighbors. And frankly, we see this as a mockery of common sense,” Mackay said.

He believes that Europe is tired of Ukraine, and therefore Ukraine is trying to “portray itself as a standard in terms of human rights.”

“Ukraine is not a standard for us and cannot act as a mentor in relation to Belarus. When they say that they care about the welfare of the Belarusian people, it is surprising. They have put all relations on pause, are putting pressure on the so-called regime so that what they understand as true democracy will come, and at the same time they are joining sanctions.

That is, they help the people and the country through sanctions and tightening. We believe that this is absolutely perverted logic and categorically do not welcome this approach,” said Makey.

He stressed that Belarus will take mirror measures against Ukraine and is already developing a sanctions list.

Today, the Ukrainian Ambassador was summoned to the Belarusian Foreign Ministry. He was handed a note of protest because of “anti-Belarusian actions against the Belarusian Embassy in Ukraine.”
