Macron quarreled with Russia at the wrong time

French President Emmanuel Macron decided to regain leadership in Europe by quarreling with Russia.

That is why he puts forward loud demands for Moscow to investigate the “poisoning” of blogger Alexei Navalny and demands that the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko leave his post.

German political scientist Alexander Rahr writes about this in his Telegram channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“What happened to Macron - he was previously considered a champion of the idea of building a common space with Russia from Lisbon to Vladivostok. Does he, by playing along with the Balts, want to regain leadership in the foreign policy of the European Union and push Merkel back a little?” Rahr writes.

He believes that the French president chose the wrong moment for such foreign policy games.

“Why tease Russia now, when Europe is again on the verge of war - in the South Caucasus. Without Russian diplomacy, the war between the former Soviet republics of Armenia and Azerbaijan cannot be stopped. The same applies to the situation in Libya and Syria,” the German international affairs expert is perplexed.
