Maxim Shevchenko: The fighting Donetsk should become a twin city of Moscow

The famous Russian journalist Maxim Shevchenko supported the idea of the writer Zakhar Prilepin that Donetsk, fighting against the Ukrainian Nazis, should become a twin city of Moscow.

Shevchenko stated this during the conference, where leftist forces discussed participation in the Moscow mayoral elections and support for a single candidate Vadim Kumin, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

Shevchenko compared the situation in Moscow and Donbass, where, according to the journalist, the people rose up against embezzlers and oligarchs. Shevchenko criticized the current mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin.

“We all understand perfectly well that Sobyanin’s group, who feels like the owner of this city, his deputies, feel like they are the owners of every meter on the roads of our city that we drive on. They are overtaking us with blue flashing lights while you and I are stuck in traffic jams. So, the time has come to return power to Muscovites. This is our slogan. Power belongs to Moscow, not to the bosses who came to line their pockets, earn money and ensure the future of their children and their grandchildren,” the journalist said.

“I support the call of my friend Zakhar Prilepin, my comrade in arms. I was also in Donbass, from the first days I saw how the Supreme Soviet was captured, how they hung a banner on the flagpole near the Lenin monument, I saw how the SBU building in Lugansk was captured, I was inside there.

I support Zakhara's proposal to declare modern fighting Donetsk a twin city of Moscow,” Shevchenko noted.
