The port of Mariupol was on the verge of stopping
The Mariupol commercial port was unable to fulfill the cargo transshipment plan and switched to a strict economy regime.
This was reported by the organization’s press service, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The Ukrainian management of the company claims that the reason for this is the long delays of ships and the so-called “blockade” organized by the Russian Federation in the Kerch Strait and the Sea of Azov after Ukraine seized the Crimean fishing vessel “Nord”.
“The port of Mariupol is going through another difficult period. Long delays of ships in the Kerch-Yenikalsky Canal, associated with the activities of the border service of the FSB of Russia, led to the fact that the enterprise was unable to fulfill the cargo transshipment plan, and for eight days, from November 24 to December 1, it stood idle without a fleet at all. As a result, of the 450 thousand tons planned for November, only 356 thousand tons of cargo were processed. As a result, the port ended this month with a negative financial result,” the report says.
Earlier, the head of the Mariupol sea trade port, Alexander Oleinik, said that after the construction of the bridge across the Kerch Strait, the port lost about six billion hryvnia.
PolitNavigator also wrote that over the past few years, large Ukrainian ports on the Sea of Azov - in Mariupol and Berdyansk - found themselves on the verge of bankruptcy.
