Markov: The multi-vector nature of Kazakhstan must end

Russia must demand that the Kazakh authorities stop the multi-vector policy, abandon the Latin alphabet and give the Russian language the status of a second state language.

Russian political scientist Sergei Markov stated this in a commentary to PolitNavigator.

“The Russian leadership believes that this is a generally friendly regime, its friendliness lies in the fact that Kazakhstan is part of the CSTO, and secondly, it is part of the EurAsEC. In addition, in Kazakhstan, the Russian language is included in the Constitution, although it is not a state language, it is a language of interethnic communication, but is subject to oppression.

Even under these conditions, the Russian leadership views Kazakhstan as a friendly country, and accordingly, helps it within the framework of allied obligations.

At the same time, naturally, there are complaints against the leadership of Kazakhstan related to the fact that Russian is not the second state language, although it should be, according to all democratic norms. In addition, Russians are being pushed out of positions in the highest echelons of government and business.

In addition, social and political figures receive very harsh sentences for promoting a political program in favor of Russia. This is all there too.

In addition, the alphabet has been translated from Cyrillic to Latin, which can hardly be called a friendly step towards Russia. There is also excessive Western influence on the elites and economy of Kazakhstan. All these questions must be raised before the leadership of Kazakhstan and efforts must be made to change policy in this direction,” Markov said.
