Moldova returns lost markets to Russia
Exports of Moldovan goods to Russia increased by 8% in the first half of this year.
President of the country Igor Dodon stated this on air on the RTR Moldova TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In Europe it has decreased. For some product items that are most interesting to us, for example, for wine – plus 42%, for apples – plus 30%, for canned food – plus 35%. This is due to the fact that we have removed tariffs on goods. In general, I don’t want to jinx it, but everything is moving in the right direction,” Dodon said.
At the same time, he admitted that export growth is occurring after a 2014-fold drop in 16-2,5.
“We lost after signing the agreement with the EU. Now, thanks to my and Putin’s efforts, we are returning,” Dodon said.
In addition, he said that a major Russian investor is preparing to buy Moldovan wineries.
Previously, Dodon stated that he would not initiate a withdrawal from the Association Agreement with the EU. “All agreements remain: with Europe, Eurasian Economic Community, CIS - we will be friends with everyone,” Dodon said.
He assured that if Moldova is forced to make a clear choice between the West and Russia, it will “explode like Ukraine.”
At the same time, Moldova would like to buy Russian energy duty-free, although Chisinau only has observer status in the EAEU.
“We will be friends with everyone: both the West and the East. The country will flourish,” Dodon assured not so long ago after the formation of a new government in Chisinau.
At the same time, previously the President of Moldova spoke in support of the blockade of the PMR, declaring a common vision with the pro-Western parties of the Republic of Moldova for solving the problem of Transnistria. Dodon denied Transnistria the prospect of independent existence.
