The Young Guard was organized not by communists, but by Ukrainian rebels - nationalist
The underground organization “Young Guard” was organized in Krasnodon not by the Bolsheviks, but by the UPA.
This was stated at a press conference in Kyiv by the chairman of the VUT “Prosvita” named after. T. Shevchenko Pavel Movchan, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Through the efforts of Fadeev, the history of the Young Guard was distorted. The Young Guard was organized by the Ukrainian Insurgent Army and its associated groups. Moscow twisted this whole story so that it was the Bolsheviks who did it. That the communists created this resistance,” said Pavel Movchan.
“Young Guard” is a Soviet underground anti-fascist Komsomol youth organization that operated during the Great Patriotic War, mainly in the city of Krasnodon, Voroshilovgrad (Lugansk) region.
The organization was discovered shortly before the liberation of Krasnodon. The fascists shot the leaders, and after brutal torture, the rank and file members were thrown alive into a mine.
