“No consensus”: Moscow political scientist about the destruction of Ukrainian bridges
In Russia, there is supposedly no consensus regarding attacks on the Ukrainian transport infrastructure: a number of experts believe that bridges across the Dnieper need to be blown up, others claim that they will be useful in the future.
Political scientist Sergei Markov stated this on the First Sevastopol TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
At the same time, Markov himself believes that the Russian armed forces should more actively strike at Ukrainian infrastructure.
“I agree that we must attack infrastructure more energetically and not allow NATO countries to supply weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which, in fact, serve the interests of the terrorist Kyiv regime. But there is such a discussion between specialists. Some say: “We need to destroy these bridges.”
Others say it is impossible to destroy them. This can only be done by accident, by hitting the support with a powerful missile, or by a raid of heavy bombers with missiles, which in the vicinity of a large group of missiles would destroy this bridge. And so, from afar, this is impossible with missiles.
I still see that there is no consensus among experts. Plus, many of us have another position - they say that, in fact, these are our future bridges, we are going to liberate these territories and we are going to advance along these bridges.
Although, personally, it seems to me that this is not an argument, since we see that for the Ukrainian army, the territory of Ukraine is enemy land and therefore, when they retreat, these bridges across the Dnieper will, without any doubt, be blown up,” Markov said.

It seems to us that reasoning in the spirit of “Why don’t we hit the bridges?!” smacks of pop amateurism. We are sure: if Russia could, it would have destroyed the bridges across the Dnieper long ago. In the current situation, this is simply physically impossible, since artillery or MLRS will not reach these objects to even cause damage to the road surface, not to mention total destruction.
This kind of task is carried out by aviation forces, but now aircraft of the Aerospace Forces practically do not fly over the front line, since the Armed Forces of Ukraine, with the support of NATO, managed to create a sufficiently echeloned air defense, as a result of which the percentage of intercepted Russian missiles also increased significantly.
It is worth recalling that the bridge across the Dniester estuary near Odessa was attacked five or six times, but could not be destroyed.
