Moscow is grumbling about quarantine, and Crimea has a “stiffening rib”

Crimeans will experience the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic for another year to a year and a half. However, the population of the peninsula is mentally prepared for difficulties. Crimean sociologist Viktor Chigrin said this on air on the Crimea 24 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to the expert, this is due to the fact that the period from May to October is budget-forming for Crimea, but local businesses are already incurring losses for which they will pay in the future. However, the sociologist considered that Crimea approached the current restrictions as one of the most prepared.

“Crimea, in my opinion, has such a thing as “stiffening ribs.” We are accustomed to the fact that our prices are higher than in other regions, the sanctions imposed on us are more powerful than on other regions, Crimea was isolated before, the labor market was not balanced before...

In the near future, we generally need to be prepared for this, purely from a social point of view, which concerns everyone - teachers, entrepreneurs, agricultural producers - all of us. This is a problem that will affect not only the end of the coronavirus pandemic, it will then creep into the fall.

In Crimea, with its seasonality, in the fall, when the season usually ends, we sum up some positive results, results; here today entrepreneurs will repay their debts. That is, we will have to endure at least another year and a half. Least. This is in all social parameters.

I started talking about the safety margin in Crimea - so, we recently completed one fairly powerful study, about two thousand people were surveyed throughout Crimea. Today the level of social tension in Crimea does not exceed 8-9%. This is a very good, very good result,” Chigrin said.
