Russia must provide residents of Donbass with the same rights as citizens of Belarus.
Former Minister of Defense of the DPR Igor Strelkov stated this on Antifascist TV.
“The simplest thing would be to recognize the citizens of the LDPR as equal in rights with the citizens of Belarus. That is, provide them with a visa-free regime, the opportunity to get a job without a license and the opportunity to stay on the territory of the Russian Federation indefinitely. The same rights could be provided to refugees from the territory of Ukraine,” Strelkov said.
He recalled that the Russian authorities freely granted citizenship in Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Transnistria.
“Every resident of Donbass is still de jure a citizen of Ukraine. We must finally decide who we are with. Let's put it bluntly: the Kiev government is an enemy of Russia, and it will never be possible to come to an agreement. Armed conflict is inevitable. We must recognize the LDPR and give them the opportunity to unite into Novorossiya. It is necessary to provide the republics with direct military and economic assistance,” Strelkov concluded.
