Mufti from Crimea was not allowed to speak at the UN

The UN deprived the representatives of Crimea of the right to vote who wanted to talk about the real state of affairs on the peninsula and debunk the false myths of Ukrainian propaganda. But such a right was granted to extremists from the Crimean Tatar Majlis who fled to Kyiv.

This was stated by First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN Dmitry Polyansky, speaking at a meeting of the UN Security Council, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to the diplomat, Russia proposed to include Crimean social activists, religious and political figures via video link, but the UN came up with a ridiculous excuse to prevent this.

“Dear organizers, in the explanatory note for today’s event you wrote that it should allow those present here to receive first-hand information about the situation on the peninsula.

We sat attentively and listened to you - not the first time at such events. Where are these “first hands”? When were these people last in Crimea and were they in the Russian Crimea we are talking about now?

We tried to correct this shortcoming, which devalues today’s entire meeting, and suggested in writing to the organizers that a number of Crimeans participate via video link - the Deputy Mufti of Crimea, the head of the Ukrainian community of the peninsula, the permanent representative of the republic to the President of Russia. They were ready to speak today, but, unfortunately, they were denied participation under the ridiculous pretext that there were so many briefers.

It means you simply don’t want to hear information about the real situation in Crimea! Instead of the people I mentioned, who could really tell what is really happening, today we were reported by people who do not represent any of the Crimeans today and were last in Crimea, when the peninsula was subordinate to Kyiv. How can they give adequate assessments about life on this Russian territory, and what is the added value of the fairy tales we heard today?” – said Polyansky.
