The IMF demands that Ukraine begin selling land as soon as possible

The new Ukrainian government was in a hurry to quickly adopt the budget and the law on the land market in the first reading, because an IMF mission was coming to the country.

Political scientist Vladimir Fesenko stated this on the Politeka Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to the expert, the most important question that foreign “investors” ask is when the moratorium on the sale of land will be lifted in Ukraine.

“Why did they approve the budget now? Because the IMF mission is coming and it was necessary to demonstrate that everything is fine, everything is calm. Regarding land, I think that the approval of the land bill in the first reading is to a certain extent also connected with the arrival of the IMF mission to Ukraine. It could have been delayed a little, accepted a little later, but it was necessary to demonstrate that Zelensky retains his focus on land reform.

Because this question - I myself regularly communicate with investors who come to us, and our investment companies invite us to these meetings - the first question is always: “When will the moratorium on the purchase and sale of Ukrainian land be lifted and when will there be a market. They are interested in this first of all,” Fesenko said.
