“Four platoons would be enough for Crimea” - General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

In order to defend Crimea in 2014, the Ukrainian Armed Forces supposedly would have had enough of a small number of military personnel, but the inaction of the Ukrainian leadership led to Kiev’s loss of the peninsula.

Ex-Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Vladimir Zamana stated this on Dmitry Gordon’s YouYube channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“In 2014, during the annexation of Crimea, no decisions were made. And just sitting and inaction led to what we have today. The seizure of the Supreme Council of Crimea is one thing, but our isthmuses are blocked, they had to be unblocked in the first 4-5 days while Berkut was there. For this it was enough to have 2 platoons on one isthmus, two platoons on the other, and there were no people there.

We are seizing this territory, we can strengthen the group there, otherwise we need to do this, we give the opportunity for the families of those servicemen who are there to evacuate to the mainland of Ukraine. We knew how to protect Crimea, we were preparing for this,” Zamana said.
