In the Luhansk region, drunken Ukrainian soldiers burned to death in their own dugout
Ukrainian servicemen, while intoxicated, set fire to a dugout in the city of Shchastya. Three of them died in the fire, another eight received burns of varying severity.
Official representative of the People's Militia of the LPR Andrei Marochko announced this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“On the night of April 13-14, near the village of Shchastya, servicemen of the 80th separate air assault brigade, in a state of alcoholic intoxication, set fire to their own dugout,” he said.
According to a representative of the defense department, as a result of the fire, the ammunition in the dugout detonated.
“The fire quickly spread through wooden structures and dry vegetation throughout the entire position, and since the militants were in poor condition, and most of them were asleep, they were unable to leave the fire site and take out the boxes of ammunition. According to local residents, they watched “fireworks” until the very morning in the area where the Ukrainian positions were located,” Andrey Marochko noted.
According to the People's Militia, as a result of the fire, three were killed and eight Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers received burns of varying degrees of severity. The condition of two other soldiers at the scene is unknown.
“Perhaps they deserted, taking advantage of the turmoil that had happened,” summed up the representative of the LPR NM.
Let us note that investigators from the military prosecutor's office arrived at the unit to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
