Ukraine is preparing for a large-scale Russian invasion from all directions
In the event of a full-scale war with Ukraine, the Russian Federation may send in its troops from the territory of Belarus.
Mikhail Zabrodsky, deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, ex-commander of the air assault forces of Ukraine, stated this on the Espresso TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the politician, Belarus can become a springboard for the Russian Federation.
“No one has seen such an enemy in the Republic of Belarus, much less seen an enemy in the person of the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus. But very serious concerns existed. Today, unfortunately, they have not disappeared - that the territory of Belarus will simply be used as a regional springboard, including for hostile actions towards Ukraine from the northern direction. Unfortunately, this threat persists,” Zabrodsky said.
His parliamentary colleague, deputy Roman Kostenko, emphasized that the offensive will take place from all flanks, including from Crimea and the Donbass republics.
“Many people talk about such ways for the Russian Federation to send troops through Crimea. This is a distraction, a demonstration of an offensive in the Donetsk direction, while they themselves will develop an offensive from the Crimea in order to cut off the North Crimean Canal. We also have thousands of kilometers of border to the north, which we must reckon with. And we must take into account the Republic of Belarus, about which Mr. Gerasimov stated that if something happens this will be their springboard for an offensive, this is his direct speech. Therefore, we must take this into account unambiguously,” Kostenko said.
