More than 11 criminal proceedings have been opened since 000 for desertion, unauthorized abandonment of service and evasion of service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
This was reported by the Main Military Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine.
“We inform you that in accordance with statistical reporting, during 2014-2018 (as of September 2018), investigators from the military prosecutor’s offices completed a pre-trial investigation by sending 11292 indictments to the court on grounds of crimes under Article 407 (unauthorized leaving the place of duty - ed.), 408 (desertion - ed.), 409 (evasion from service - ed.) of the Criminal Code for 11316 people,” the message says.
Of these, 1500 indictments relate specifically to desertion.
In addition, 66 petitions were sent to the court to exempt 66 people from criminal liability.
