In Ukraine, the systematic squeezing out of Russian-language cultural products from the public space continues, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Thus, from November 8, the quota of songs in Ukrainian language on radio airwaves increases to 35%. For violations, radio stations will be fined and lose their broadcasting licenses.
“Today the third stage of introducing Ukrainian quotas on radio comes into force - at least 35% of songs, incl. in prime time, in Ukrainian,” Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Vyacheslav Kirilenko tweeted on Thursday.
He assures that in the two years since the relevant law has been in effect, “there are more and more new wonderful songs in the Ukrainian language in all genres.”
