Bandits in Ukraine feel more and more confident. The taking of hostages in Lutsk is a consequence of the permissiveness and impunity of those who committed high-profile crimes.
Political scientist Kost Bondarenko told a PolitNavigator correspondent about this.
“No one is safe from this, especially in today’s Ukraine, where there is a constant build-up of hysteria, a search for enemies, and where there is permissiveness and a cult of power.
Many people understand that now it is possible to commit a crime and not suffer any punishment, especially since everyone has seen how several high-profile crimes ended with people being taken on bail.
There were both correct actions and outright PR on the part of the authorities. I don’t understand why Lutsk needed a deputy head of the President’s Office, who deals with issues of information policy and PR. Was it really impossible to send anyone else to Lutsk?
