The National Council took away the license from Medvedchuk’s channel

The National Council of Ukraine on TV and Radio Broadcasting revoked the digital broadcasting license of the 112 TV channel, control over which the media attributed to one of the leaders of the Oppoplatform, Viktor Medvedchuk. Now broadcasting will continue on satellite, Internet and cable networks.

“112” allows itself to criticize the authorities, but uses the rhetoric of Ukrainian nationalists about the “annexation of Crimea,” “aggressor country,” “separatists,” etc.

“We, the channel’s team, view this as strict censorship,” 112 said in a statement. The editors promise to continue working.

Meanwhile, the editor of the Strana publication, Igor Guzhva, who was forced to leave Kyiv, previously stated that two more Medvedchuk channels – NewsOne and ZiK – should soon lose their licenses.

Previously, President Vladimir Zelensky stated that Medvedchuk’s party, as well as his media, receive financial support from abroad, and the new Ukrainian authorities intend to sort this out.

Experts believe that Zelensky is irritated by Medvedchuk’s mediating role in relations with Russia and is trying to establish direct contacts with Moscow.

A few weeks ago, the building of TV channel 112 was fired upon by unknown persons using a grenade launcher.
