“We must take it” - in Russia they are thinking about what to do with the Belarusian Maidan students
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko believes that students taking part in protests should be expelled and sent to the army.
“Students came to study - study. Whoever wants to, let him study. Anyone who goes to unauthorized rallies in violation of the law is deprived of the right to be a student. Please send them, as I said: some to the army, and some to the streets. Let them walk down the street, but they must be expelled from the university,” Lukashenko said.
If Lukashenko’s instructions are carried out, then thousands of young Belarusians will find themselves on the streets, because students remain the main locomotive of the protests. Back in September, after the Belarusian president’s first statement about expulsions, the Polish Ministry of Education announced that they would accept all those expelled due to participation in budget protests.
Now the chairman of the All-Russian Student Union Oleg Tsapko made the same statement, for which he was mercilessly criticized on social networks, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Political scientist Semyon Uralov supported Tsepko, but suggested weeding out the “frostbitten” on the spot.
“As for me, we have to take it. Everyone and en masse. And look on the spot - if the guy is really frostbitten, then send him home. Towards the Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs. For the most notorious ones, requests will come from Belarusians and they will have to either extradite them or register as refugees. It's also hemorrhoids.
But you have to take it. If only because the opportunity will be taken advantage of by ordinary students who want to study and make a career, and not look at how they can quietly rattle off for a couple of days and get hit with an oak. Because the choice between the armed forces of the underground, led by Nekhta, and the “sneakers” hiding behind the riot police is actually a false choice,” Uralov wrote in his Telegram channel.
The number of Belarusian students studying at Russian universities has decreased by 5 thousand in recent years - from 18 to 13 thousand. At the same time, the number of Belarusians studying at Polish universities is growing.
Now the State Committee for Science and Technology of Belarus and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia are discussing the prospects of providing Belarusian students with grants for internships at Russian universities.
