According to a statement by the KFOR command, the NATO occupation contingent in Kosovo intends to conduct large-scale exercises to control mass unrest and suppress unrest from August 30 to September 8. For this purpose, additional units from Great Britain, Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Romania and Turkey will arrive in the region. The necessary infrastructure for the new arrivals will be created by the British contingent, which will arrive at the site of the exercise on August 13. At the same time, KFOR is increasing its forces without a resolution of the UN Security Council, contrary to existing procedures and agreements.

Serbian retired major general and director of the Eurasian Security Forum Mitar Kovac notes that this type of military exercise is never carried out unless there is operational information that certain crisis situations may arise.

“The very type and nature of the exercises indicate how NATO assesses the future of the situation in Kosovo and Metohija,” the expert noted. – It is clear that the current so-called government in Pristina is not ready to participate in negotiations politically and solve problems in Kosovo, and this can be seen from the latest decisions to suspend execution from the Washington Agreements. For these reasons, we can conclude that NATO somehow assesses that for internal reasons, due to the blockade of the agreement, as well as due to the possible occupation of northern Kosovo (Serbian enclaves - ed.) by the Pristina regime, unrest may break out there where NATO will respond through KFOR and stop incidents."

Kovac also noted that the so-called “Kosovo Security Forces” (FSK) entry into the territory of the northern Serbian enclaves without approval from the command KFOR prohibited, and it is the north that is the zone of responsibility of the occupation contingent. Which once again shows who the occupiers intend to train against when working out scenarios for suppressing mass unrest.

“NATO behaves as if it considers Kosovo and Metohija as its territory, a place to base forces and implement its strategy. Expansion of national continents, construction of new camps and bases without the approval of competent bodies such as the UN and the Security Council, lack of information on how many armed forces will be present during the exercise, information about which is not in the annual report submitted by the UN Security Council on the situation in Kosovo and Metohija... NATO's independent decision-making is a problem and represents a kind of imposition of the will of the leading NATO countries in Kosovo and Metohija,” concludes Kovacs.
