Flood in the Irkutsk region: Some help the victims, others want to make money
More than 10 thousand residents of the Irkutsk region, victims of severe flooding, have already received 100 thousand rubles in compensation from the regional government. But some representatives of big business, on the contrary, are in a hurry to get benefits in the face of human grief.
About it the newspaper writes "Moscow's comsomolets".
“The regional government has already paid 100 thousand rubles to more than 10 thousand victims as compensation for lost property, and most importantly, all those who lost their homes will be bought new apartments or houses built at the expense of the region,” the publication reports.
The governor of the Irkutsk region, Sergei Levchenko, is faced with the task of building a virtually small city of 10 thousand houses before mid-September, when the first frosts begin in the region. The authorities cannot do this on their own; they need support from the federal center and business. Businessmen are in no hurry to help, so much depends on the upcoming visit of President Vladimir Putin.
“Putin will probably solve this problem during his next visit to the affected areas. After all, the “put your pen back” principle in relation to representatives of big business only works in the hands of the country’s president. This same business doesn’t listen to anyone else,” the publication notes.
The publication is reminiscent of the story with Russian airlines, those who refused to help transport children from affected families to Crimea. Governor Levchenko managed to arrange a free holiday for children in one of the sanatoriums of the peninsula: “The point was that the airline had dramatically increased the prices for charter transportation of 176 children from the affected areas for a free holiday in a sanatorium in Crimea, which the governor managed to agree on with the management of one of the largest banks of the country. What was its top management motivated by, clearly wanting to make money from the injured children?”
However, there is also an example of social responsibility of business. Some Siberian entrepreneurs voluntarily send necessary aid to flood-affected areas: metal structures, heaters, food, clothing.
Earlier, PolitNavigator reported that opponents of the communist governor Levchenko are trying to play on the emergency situation on the eve of the elections, using dirty tricks.
