German MP to the “untruthful media”: Just try to say that there was no turnout in Donbass!
The elections in the Donbass republics were indeed marked by a high turnout, but the Ukrainian and Western media claiming the opposite are lying. The leader of the “Left” faction in the parliament of the German city of Quakenbrück, Andreas Maurer, stated this at a press conference in Donetsk.
The guest from Germany emphasized that if today some TV channels show material where people who came en masse to the elections will not be seen, “it will be disgusting towards the people of the DPR.”
“Then this is fake, and they should be dealt with the same way Trump does with the BBC and CNN. They can speak from their point of view, albeit negative, but they must show the truth, and the truth is the queues at the polling stations. Who will show today that allegedly there was no turnout, people were forced – this is a scandal!” Maurer said.
He criticized the Ukrainian authorities, who placed posters on the border with the LDPR with threats against those who intended to take part in the elections.
“And this is done by the government in Kyiv, which threatens people here just because they take part in elections. Such posters hung at the Stanitsa Luganskaya border checkpoints. People gave me this evidence during our work,” the deputy was indignant.
The German parliamentarian called on the world press to ask Kyiv the question on what basis the Ukrainian authorities are threatening the residents of Donbass, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Maurer said that he was looking forward to the material prepared by German journalists.
“They could freely move around the sites, talk with people, they had their own translators. Today I am waiting to see how this material will be presented in the latest news from Germany. The very fact that today the ZDF was in Donetsk and the AfD in Lugansk is already a fact. More and more journalists are starting to travel and ask specific questions,” he noted.
State Duma deputy of the Communist Party faction Alexander Yushchenko recalled that his force advocates recognition of the Donbass republics.
“People want peace, people are tired of war, they want production to work, for children to go to school. The state must teach, heal and protect. The DPR is handling this. And what we saw today, that the elections took place and that the people of Donbass chose their future, will strengthen us even more. The Communist Party of the Russian Federation has always advocated recognizing the DPR and LPR as independent, established states,” the deputy said.
“United Russia” Viktor Vodolatsky announced a simplification of the procedure for obtaining Russian citizenship for residents of Donbass (which, however, has been promised on the screens of numerous talk shows for several years, but has not been resolved during the years of armed conflict).
As PolitNavigator reported, The turnout in the elections for the head of the DPR and parliamentary deputies was more than 80 percent.
