A German member of the European Parliament demanded to “put pressure on Kyiv economically”
If the European Union really wants to achieve stability and security in Europe, it must force Ukraine to implement the Minsk agreements and forget about this country’s membership in NATO.
This was stated by its member, German politician from the Alternative for Germany party Maximilian Kra, speaking at a meeting of the European Parliament, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If we talk about the problem in the east of Ukraine, we must not forget the fact that there are regulations, namely the Minsk agreements, the so-called “Minsk-2”. Put economic pressure on Kyiv; the implementation of the agreement, in which France, Germany and the United States jointly mediated and supported, also depends on us.
But they prefer to provide military assistance. In this regard, the question is: do you want peace? Very good. Support the Minsk agreements, firstly. And the second thing we're talking about is, you have to think: “What does my colleague think?” This is called empathy. Russia has a historical experience that is different from ours. If Hitler and Napoleon had their (experience), they would not have started campaigns on what is now the Ukrainian-Russian border.
And that is why Russia will never allow this. She is against a hostile military alliance on this border. So anyone who wants to accept Ukraine into NATO is provoking, whether we like it or not. Ask yourself whether you are ready to pay for Ukraine's war for NATO membership. I am ready to accept the fact that Ukraine will not become a NATO member,” Kra said.
