“Indelible stain”: The Ukrainian delegation to the UN behaved worse than the Baltic states

Only two countries at the UN - the United States and Ukraine - refused to support the resolution initiated by Russia “Combating the glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and other practices that contribute to fueling modern forms of racism, racial discrimination, and xenophobia.”

The document received 130 votes in favor, two votes against, and another 49 countries were among those who abstained.

“Is it simply impossible not to vote for a resolution condemning Nazism, since such a decision has already been made, and not to vote against it at the UN? This is a position that casts an indelible stain on Ukraine,” Verkhovna Rada deputy Maxim Buzhansky is perplexed.

Odessa journalist Yuri Tkachev noted that even the Baltic countries decided to act more cunningly than Ukraine:

“Even the Balts had enough brains to abstain,” Tkachev noted.

Representatives of the United States have previously repeatedly stated that Russia, through certain provisions in the resolution against the rehabilitation of Nazism, is encroaching on the supposedly sacred right to freedom of expression, freedom of speech, and is also using the document adopted by the UN to put pressure on neighboring independent countries.
