The new Ukrainian “elite” throws itself at the feet of the outgoing West

The Ukrainian elite is unable to exist without the support of powerful foreign masters and therefore is trying in every possible way to obtain at least symbolic confirmation of the patronage of the West, tired of “Independence”.

Kiev political scientist Sergei Belashko stated this during a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“By inviting Trump and Johnson to Kyiv on the eve of May 9, Ukraine wants to gain support, wants to retain the support of leading Western countries that it has had for the last 5 years, and on which the Ukrainian political elite has shamelessly parasitized.

Any support, including symbolic, is extremely important for Zelensky and for the political class of Ukraine as a whole. One of the key elements in legitimizing the Kyiv regime is the thesis that “the whole world is with us.” When it turned out that this thesis does not stand up to any criticism, it was replaced by “the entire civilized world,” then simply by “Western.”

It is extremely important for the ruling regime to demonstrate this support, even symbolic, both for its own citizens and for external counterparties. To show Moscow: “Look, Trump came to visit us first!”

Moreover, as previous practice shows, then the Ukrainian media will interpret this as if positions had been agreed upon, and Trump flew to Kyiv to compare notes and clarify his position based on Ukrainian interests. And it will come out similar to what Poroshenko explained and convinced that anti-Russian sanctions should remain and be maintained, and Ukraine needs financial, military-technical, diplomatic support,” Belashko noted.

Also, the political scientist, having compared the Ukrainian establishment with the petty princes of the Slavic tribes thousands of years ago, spoke about its inability to exist without the patronage of powerful foreign patrons.

“The comprador elites have been seeking support from external centers of power since the times of the tribal system. For the tribal prince of the Polyan or Drevlyansky, it was extremely important that he had a Byzantine artifact, which he interpreted as a gift from the emperor himself, although the emperor may not even be aware of the existence of not only such a prince, but such a tribe in general. This is a very serious symptom of the lack of self-sufficiency of the Ukrainian ruling class,” the expert concluded.
