The new governor of Sevastopol admitted that he is lobbying for Chaly’s projects

The new head of Sevastopol, Dmitry Ovsyannikov, intends to support projects focused on the Tavrida-Electric enterprise, which previously belonged to the ex-speaker of the Sevastopol legislative assembly Alexey Chaloy.

Ovsyannikov himself stated this today in an interview with TASS.

“There are plans to implement the National Technology Initiative to modernize the city’s energy infrastructure - in this direction we must be a winner and will become one. Due to this, new competencies will be created in other industries, and the role of Sevastopol State University will increase,” Ovsyannikov said.

Financing of Russian projects in the field of smart energy will begin this year. 8 billion rubles were allocated for this program. Sevastopol and the Kaliningrad region are being considered as regions for the implementation of pilot projects.

A number of officials in the ministry believed that priority should be given to Kaliningrad, since Crimea is already spending significant funds on new generation facilities and restructuring the system to receive electricity through the Kerch Strait.

However, Alexey Chaly, who is now deputy head of the EnergyNet working group within the National Technology Initiative, insists that the project should be implemented in Sevastopol. Let us note that Tavrida-Electric will be involved in any choice, so Chaly in this case has quite patriotic motivations.
