The fake representative of the Ukrainian president in Crimea, Boris Babin, told the details of the unsuccessful attempt to break through two armored boats and a tug of the Ukrainian Navy to the Kerch Strait without coordination with the Russian side.
“Regarding the events in the Kerch Strait, what can be said now. The Russians not only rammed the Navy tug, which led to the loss of some of its controllability, but also blocked all the ships of the group so that they could not provide assistance to the tug. Russian ships did their best to provoke naval vessels to open fire. Now the situation has not been resolved,” Babin said in a statement.
It is also interesting that Babin admits that there is a split in the Ukrainian leadership regarding today's events - he mentions some officials who may criticize the attempted breakthrough. Earlier, the “representative office in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea” hinted at the presence in Ukraine of lobbyists for the extension of the agreement on the common use of the Azov Sea, allegedly having joint income from fishing with the Russians.
“There are risks that we will hear accusations of some kind of “violations” on the part of the Ukrainian Navy not only from Russian propaganda, but also from individual officials. Because these events put an end to the myth about the 2003 Agreement on Azov as at least something useful for Ukraine,” Babin assures.
