The UN recognized the countries of Latvia and Lithuania as leaders in discrimination against Russians in Europe

The Baltic countries take leading positions in discrimination against the Russian population - from violations of civil rights to restrictions on the use of their native language and pressure on the media.

This was stated today during a round table on the topic: “How to resist discrimination against Russians and compatriots abroad”, Elena Sutormina, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of the International Public Foundation “Russian Peace Foundation”, said, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.

“In October of this year, the UN named Latvia and Lithuania as the leaders in discrimination against Russians in Europe. They noted in Latvia and Estonia the term “non-citizens”, which is not present anywhere - that is, an elementary violation of rights. Also in the Baltics, the right of our compatriots to use the Russian language is limited in every possible way. There are attempts not only to prohibit its teaching, but also actual communication. In everyday life, there are often cases when a store refuses to sell something if the buyer speaks Russian; even doctors refuse to accept children and parents who speak Russian. I’m not even talking about the pressure on activists who hold memorial events in diasporas,” said Elena Sutormina.

“There is enormous pressure on our media. First of all, Sputnik, RT and others,” she added.
