The UN recognized the existence of illegal torture prisons of the SBU in Ukraine

At the very beginning of the civil war in Donbass, illegal SBU prisons operated in territory controlled by Kyiv, in which people were tortured.

Henrikas Mickevicius, a member of the UN working group on enforced disappearances, stated this during a press conference of the UN working group on enforced disappearances, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“We received reliable information about unofficial places of detention, in particular about the existence of such places at the very beginning of the conflict. Some of them were improvised holding places, some were under the control of the SBU, some of them were in Kramatorsk, Mariupol and Odessa, in the city of Pokrovsk, and also in Kharkov.

In addition, we received statements from those people who were kept there about torture, bullying and other forms of cruel behavior,” stated Mickevicius.

In addition, he noted that the authorities in the DPR and LPR are open to dialogue.

“The de facto authorities in the so-called DPR and LPR have expressed a desire to resume negotiations for the simultaneous release of prisoners from both sides,” the UN representative added.
