State Department report on Ukraine is a “yellow card” for Petro Poroshenko
In the United States, they are close to, using sports terminology, issuing Petro Poroshenko, as a politician, a “yellow card,” but this decision is not final.
This comment was given to “PolitNavigator” by political scientist Alexander Semchenko regarding the latest critical reports of the US State Department and the American NGO Freedom House, which focused on corruption, departure from the principles of democracy and the growth of authoritarian tendencies in the practice of the current Ukrainian regime.
“This, in my opinion, is just a yellow card, really, almost a red card, for the Poroshenko regime, and a clear signal about “guy, we probably won’t support you after all, and, probably, we are still at the crossing.” We’ll change one horse,” Semchenko said.
Semchenko drew attention to the emphasis placed in the State Department’s report on Ukraine: here there is corruption and human rights and political prisoners and freedom of speech and conditions in prisons.
According to the political scientist, the State Department’s report is “an assessment of a certain figure.”
“There is Poroshenko, there are people who stand behind him, they relied on them in 2014, and this is a signal that in 2019 we (USA-Red) will rely on other people,” he says.
However, Semchenko makes a reservation, he does not think that the decision to “leak” the figure of Petro Poroshenko in the United States has been made finally.
