A retired SBU general told how the Russian military “villainously appropriated Ukrainian nuclear weapons”

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Ukraine did not have a ban on the export of nuclear weapons. Taking advantage of its generals, Russia “villainously” removed weapons from Ukraine.

The former head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and ex-deputy chairman of the SBU, Alexander Skipalsky, stated this on the air of the television project “Be Respectful,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The situation developed in such a way that the Russians then began to steal weapons. It was obvious to me that they had villainously removed some of the tactical nuclear weapons, relying on the generals issued to them. We had no prohibitions on this then,” Skipalsky said, commenting on the creation of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine in the early 90s.

He also quoted the then “cynical statement of Russian generals.” “Even at that time they were saying: “Well, how did we get the crests? They took away the nuclear weapons, but left the iron for them,” writes the SBU officer.
