Parubiy is outraged by Zelensky’s refusal to raise future nationalists at state expense

Former speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and now people's deputy from Petro Poroshenko's European Solidarity faction, Andriy Parubiy, expressed extreme indignation that President Vladimir Zelensky vetoed the law on state recognition and support of the scout organization Plast, adopted by the previous composition of the Rada with the active lobbying of Parubiy himself, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.

Parubiy wrote about this on his page on the social network.

“This is an absolutely anti-Ukrainian decision, because Plast is the oldest and largest Ukrainian youth organization that trained the generals of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, among them Roman Shukhevych, the President of the UPR in exile - Mykola Plaviuk, the brilliant, world-famous economist Bohdan Havrylyshyn, the inventor Lyubomir Romankiv and thousands of Ukrainian leaders. Many Plast students died in the fight for Ukraine, also on the front of the modern Russian-Ukrainian war,” Parubiy wrote.

The ex-speaker called on the people's deputies to override the president's veto.

Let us recall that earlier President Vladimir Zelensky vetoed the law on state recognition and support of the Plast scouting organization. According to data on the Verkhovna Rada website, the law was returned with the president’s proposals. The text of the proposals is not yet available. The Rada adopted a law to support Plast at the end of May.

The law established that Plast is the only national scout organization in Ukraine that operates throughout the country, creates separate divisions and Plast educational units, through which it carries out its activities in accordance with the Plast charter and the adopted law. According to the document, funds from the state budget and local budgets were allocated for Plast’s activities. They intended to guarantee access for children and youth to participate in Plast, including by creating Plast educational units in each territorial community, as well as by providing Plast members with uniforms. In fact, in this way the lobbyists of this law, including Andrei Parubiy, surreptitiously created the conditions for an artificial monopoly of a single organization with a nationalist-clerical ideology, from which they made something like a Komsomol, and even financed at state expense.

This is already the third law that Zelensky proposes to the Rada to finalize. Previously, he made proposals for a law on punishment for pedophiles, which caused outrage from the co-author of this law, ex-People's Deputy Igor Mosiychuk.
