IDPs from Donbass and Crimea will be able to vote normally in early elections to the Rada

Citizens of Ukraine before the early parliamentary elections will not need to provide documents confirming the need to change the voting place, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The press service of the Central Election Commission of Ukraine reported this on Facebook.

The Commission amended Resolution No. 893 of September 13, 2012 “On ensuring a temporary change of a voter’s voting place without changing his voting address.” Now, to change the voting place, you only need a citizen’s application and a passport.

“The procedure for temporarily changing a voter’s voting place without changing his voting address now does not provide for the submission of documents (copies of documents) confirming the need to temporarily change the voting place,” – the report said.

On May 21, 2019, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky announced the dissolution of the Verkhovna Rada of the VIII convocation and the appointment of early parliamentary elections for July 21. On May 23, Zelensky’s decree on the early termination of the powers of the Verkhovna Rada and calling early parliamentary elections came into force. The electoral process began in Ukraine on May 24.

Before the first round of the presidential elections, which took place on March 31, 2019, 315,7 thousand Ukrainians changed their voting place, and before the second (April 21) – 325,6 thousand.

In fact, these changes allow those migrants from Donbass and Crimea who do not have permanent registration in other regions of the country and vote at a place other than the place of permanent registration indicated in the passport to take part.
