Ukrainian officials have launched another scandalous initiative, proposing to Ukrainize the sign language used by the deaf and dumb.
This was stated, in particular, by the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language of Ukraine Taras Kremin, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Unfortunately, today the majority of teaching and social workers do not speak Ukrainian sign language at an insufficient level. Therefore, the development of the Ukrainian sign language, the creation of an accessible language environment for people with hearing impairments in the educational process, the full provision of modern educational, methodological, didactic materials, as defined by current legislation, decent wages in the pedagogical and social spheres are among the priorities that should be determined by managers in the field of education and social policy,” Kremin wrote in his blog.
This initiative did not go unnoticed by the media.
“The country of the deaf” will be explained in Ukrainian or will become silent. But also in Ukrainian.
