Plahotniuc pushed Moldova into the arms of Akhmetov
President of Moldova Igor Dodon demanded that the country's government suspend the decision of the National Agency for Energy Regulation (NARE) to increase electricity tariffs by 5,6%.
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, Dodon believes that the tariff increase was made on a “political order” from the authorities, which was controlled by the oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc, in order to destabilize the situation in the country.
“The increase was almost double the originally announced figure. Thus, it becomes clear that this increase is not justified by accurate and justified calculations, but represents an attempt to destabilize the situation in the country according to the political order of the previous government,” Dodon wrote.
The company Gas Natural Fenosa, which resells electricity to Moldova from the Moldavian State District Power Plant (Transnistria), according to one version, belongs to Plahotniuc. Moreover, in this scheme the intermediary receives 10% more than the manufacturer.
Let us recall that in June, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak said that Russia would not force Moldova to purchase electricity from the Moldavian State District Power Plant, which is owned by Russians.
The Moldovan government plans to switch to supplies from DTEK Trading, owned by DTEK Rinat Akhmetov. The Ukrainian oligarch supplied electricity to Moldova at a tariff $10 lower than on the domestic market of Ukraine.
