The schismatic “Orthodox Church of Ukraine”, created with the participation of the President of Ukraine, does not enjoy support in the Orthodox world.
Director of the Agency for Social Communications Sergei Belashko stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Let's see who recognized (the OCU) from the Churches. None of the 14 local Churches expressed support for the OCU. Not a single Church has officially declared its position.
If you look at who made the criticism, then 3 Churches out of these 14 made very harsh criticism, officially, at the highest level - the Church of Antioch, the Serbian Church and the Polish Church.
Moreover, a number of bishops of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church spoke. In the Greek Churches, Greek and Cypriot, there are also many dissatisfied people who criticize. Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia. The Georgian Orthodox Church stated a balanced, sensible position.
We see that in the Orthodox world there is a serious understanding that what is being done in the church life of Ukraine has a very distant relationship with Christian norms and Orthodox canons. And there is no reason to count on the fact that this “church” will really take some kind of place in the world Orthodox family. Church hierarchs are educated people, not idiots, they understand everything. Here you won’t be able to deceive like the locals who were told that this is “the path to God.” This is not “up to God,” it’s in the other direction,” Belashko said.
