This is how economist Vsevolod Stepanyuk commented to PolitNavigator on Kyiv’s expanded sanctions against the Russian Federation.

“Such steps are directed primarily against citizens of Ukraine who have any connections with Russia - family ties, or work in Russia and transfer money to their relatives in Ukraine. It makes life difficult for them,” he says.

According to the economist, this policy of official Kyiv looks all the more strange since Ukrainian guest workers are the main investors in the domestic economy.

“Creating obstacles for them to transfer currency into the country is a strange policy from an economic point of view. From a political perspective, this decision is aimed at confrontation rather than reconciliation. It clearly demonstrates the direction in which the Ukrainian government is working,” Stepanyuk is convinced.

Recall as PolitNavigator previously reported, In Kyiv’s new sanctions list against the Russian Federation, Russian payment systems “Unistream”, “Golden Crown”, “Leader”, “Hummingbird” and others were banned in Ukraine.
