They tried to pass off the dead Ukrainian mortarmen as homeless people
Trying to hide non-combat losses in result mortar explosion during shelling of DPR territory, the Ukrainian command sent the bodies of the dead to the morgue under the guise of being picked up on the street by unknown persons.
The official representative of the operational command of the republic, Dmitry Astrakhan, announced this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He recalled that on August 31, as a result of double loading of a mortar during shelling of the village of Gorlovka, a mine ruptured in the barrel, as a result of which two servicemen of the 30th brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were killed and one was injured.
“Trying to hide their massive losses, the command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces decided not to report the death of the mortar men,” said Dmitry Astrakhan.
According to his information, the dead were taken separately to the morgues of Artyomovsk and Dzerzhinsk as the bodies of unknown persons picked up on the street.
“However, it was not possible to hide this fact for a long time, and today, under public pressure, the OOS command revealed the fact of the death of one of them, trying to attribute it to non-existent shelling by the People’s Militia of the DPR,” added the representative of the defense department.
Astrakhan did not rule out that in the near future the Ukrainian command will acknowledge the death of the second serviceman.
