Pogrebinsky: Zelensky is screwed

The differences between Vladimir Zelensky and his predecessor Petro Poroshenko are only in the style of anti-Russian rhetoric. Political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The expert did not share the optimism about Zelensky’s speech on the so-called. Independence Day, where he exalted the militants of Euromaidan and the ATO, and also voiced claims against Russia, however, avoiding direct mention of the neighboring state.

“...I hear from Zelensky during his speech, when in fact he is in the same space of ideas in which Poroshenko was. He just changed the vocabulary. A famous Russian dissident and writer once said that his differences with the Soviet government were stylistic. Now, we can say that Zelensky and Poroshenko have stylistic differences, because in essence, they remain in the same ideas. He framed it all figuratively, but the ideas are the same. There is no decisive change in the assessment of reality, what is happening today, and where the process is heading,” Pogrebinsky noted.

In his opinion, this situation is explained by Zelensky’s fear of angering the “war party.”

“I can partly justify Zelensky due to the fact that he does not yet have the full scope of powers, we’ll see how he does next. But already it seems that he is so concerned about the danger from the enemies of the world that he is looking for a way not to anger them. Well, yes, he does not remember the occupation, aggression, Bandera, Shukhevych, this is not in his speeches. But the idea itself, which is not described in these words, is still present. The same as Poroshenko’s,” Pogrebinsky said.
