Half a banana for lunch: the diet of Ukrainian Armed Forces recruits has become known

The new diet for Ukrainian military personnel serving at the Desna training center was shown at the center’s press service, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The lunch menu at the Desna base canteen includes vegetable salads, fruits, meat, side dishes and first courses.

“Salad with cabbage, peas, corn, rice with vegetables, ribs with prunes, buckwheat, chicken broth with noodles, borscht, bananas…. This is lunch at Desna,” the training center reported.

At the same time, the center’s press service clarified that military personnel will receive half a banana only for lunch; during the day, soldiers will also receive the second half of the fruit. There is also chocolate on the menu.

Last year, a scandal erupted around the food at the Desna military base when photos of bread with worms and porridge with flies appeared online. It was also reported then that there was no meat in the military’s diet. Photos of spoiled stew, which was served to soldiers of another military unit, were also shown.

As reported, military units in Ukraine are switching to a new power system. The Desna base is among those military units that are the first to switch to the new power system. The Ministry of Defense also reported that the canteen at the training center was renovated.

According to the new food system, the catalog increases the food ration from 32 items to 348. In particular, fresh vegetables and fruits have been added, as well as items such as coffee.
