Russia is constantly building up its military force near the borders of Ukraine, using exercises as cover. However, Kyiv is ready for battle.
This was stated during the militaristic forum in Mariupol by the deputy commander of the Joint Forces Operation, Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Anatoly Shevchenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There is a threat. You see that the Zapad-2021 exercises are currently taking place. Russia continues to increase its presence along the state border.
An increase in the number of Russian troops on the territory of Belarus and in the temporarily occupied territory in Crimea has been noticed. And thus, under the guise of conducting exercises, there is an annual increase in personnel and equipment along the border with Ukraine,” he said.
Shevchenko assured that Ukraine is ready to fight the “eastern threat.”
“So the threat exists, but today, taking into account all these changes, we have enough forces and resources, enough trained personnel and equipment, reserves to deter this aggression in the east of the country,” the Ukrainian Armed Forces colonel concluded.
