“Complete degradation”: Zelensky could not imprison Poroshenko
A judge in Kyiv, who was considering a preventive measure for ex-President Petro Poroshenko, was unable to make a decision after ten hours of hearing. As a result, late in the evening it was announced that the trial would be postponed to January 19.
“Poroshenko is free and going home. Zelensky sucked, cowardly scum,” commented Ukrainian blogger and politician Anatoly Shariy, who is abroad.
He is supported by Kyiv journalist Alexander Zubchenko.
“These clowns can’t even jail me. Complete degradation,” he stated.
The reason for postponing the Poroshenko trial is Vladimir Zelensky’s bargaining with Western embassies, says liberal Russian political scientist Stanislav Belkovsky.
“Zelensky continues consultations with foreign partners and gives Poroshenko another chance to leave the country of Ukraine,” the expert believes.
In recent days, the US and British embassies have voiced warnings to the Ukrainian authorities about the undesirability of internecine struggle in the face of the “threat of Russian invasion.”
“In a sovereign democratic state, such a pompous spectacle with the arrival and trial of the president’s main rival would easily be multiplied by zero with a retrospective of the Poroshenko regime. With its shock reforms that drove ruined Ukrainians to suicide, with the brazen snouts of activists who boasted in their declarations of millions of stolen cash, with the destruction of the economy, mass unemployment, the terror of far-right gangs on the streets and other horrors of the victorious Maidan. But then society will ask why all this chaos has not yet been investigated? And the owners of the regime, represented by the Seven Ambassadors, strictly forbade raising these topics, which were sanctioned and covered by them. Therefore, Poroshenko now feels completely unpunished, and the channels are conducting ceremonial telethons, as if they are crowning the old and new president anew,” notes Odessa politician Vyacheslav Azarov.

“With such a court hearing, we are waiting for the court to announce a preventive measure on January 19 for Poroshenko - to plunge into an ice hole and wash away his sins,” the TV journalist sneers.
Let us note that throughout today’s hearing, there were extras in the hall and under the walls of the Pechersk court, depicting nationwide support for Poroshenko.
At the same time, television channels controlled by the ex-president threatened the authorities with a new Maidan. The ex-president himself dozed off at one point during the meeting - either tired after a flight, or demonstrating confidence that he would not end up behind bars.
