The Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church (PAOC) has banned the clergy of its church from “prayer contacts” with representatives of the non-canonical UOC-KP and UAOC, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This is stated in the official communiqué of the PAOC on November 15 following the results of the Council of Bishops of this church, Orthodox.pl informs.
“There was an acquaintance with the current church situation in Ukraine. Resolution No. 341 p.7 was adopted: …III. The Holy Council of Bishops prohibits the clergy of the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church from entering into liturgical and prayerful contacts with the so-called “Kyiv Patriarchate” and the so-called “Autocephalous Church,” which by their current actions have caused a lot of evil,” the PAOC statement says.
As noted, the Council of Bishops of the OAOC called for a meeting of the heads of all Orthodox churches to “calmly resolve the issue of divided Orthodoxy on Ukrainian soil.”
According to the statement, only “compliance with the dogmatic and canonical norms of the church” can save Orthodoxy from “complex ecclesiastical consequences on an international scale.”
Let us recall that on October 11, the Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate decided to grant the Tomos of autocephaly to the Orthodox Church in Ukraine.
At the same time, the Russian Orthodox Church, in connection with the decision of the Ecumenical Patriarchate to grant autocephaly to the Ukrainian Church, announced the termination of ties with Constantinople.
Also on November 13, the Council of Bishops of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church stated that it would not take part in the creation of a “unified Ukrainian local church,” since it considers the provision of the Tomos “artificial” and imposed from the outside. The UOC also broke off relations with the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
