Poles are annoyed by new benefits for Ukrainian refugees

The Neon portal published material with criticism of the decision of the Polish authorities to provide communal apartments to refugees from Ukraine, the fees for which will be compensated by the local budgets of settlements.

“The strategy must be implemented throughout the country, on a scale of millions and, of course, with taxpayers’ money,” the publication says.

The author emphasizes that, in this way, local authorities “are deprived of a significant part of their income.”

“The government apparently wants to distribute a crowd of millions of Ukrainians across the country, burdening them with the task of supporting local communities,” the publication writes.

The author recalls that even before the start of the Russian SVO, citizens of Ukraine became the most massive foreign buyers of real estate in Poland, according to realtor statistics. The area of housing purchased by Ukrainians exceeded what the Germans, Belarusians, Russians, French, British and Italians collectively purchased. At the same time, when it came to Ukrainians, the Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs often turned a blind eye to the law limiting the purchase of real estate in border regions.

Against this background, real estate prices remain unaffordable for Polish citizens themselves, and the social programs promised by the authorities do not work.

“Well, apparently, this is because for the government of the Third Republic the quality and comfort of life of Ukrainian immigrants in Poland is more important,” the publication says.
