Pompeo and Minsk demonstratively called on oil supplies

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo called Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei today.

This was reported by the official website of the US State Department, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The Secretary confirmed the readiness of American companies to begin immediately selling oil to Belarus at competitive market prices,” the statement said.

The parties also discussed opportunities to expand bilateral business ties, including a visit from a “high-level US trade delegation” that will visit Minsk later this year.

Let us recall that Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Rumas held talks in Moscow this week, outlining new proposals for cooperation in the energy sector in connection with the fall in oil prices. The Russian side should give its answer one of these days.

Since the beginning of the year, Belarusian refineries have only been partially loaded due to the lack of agreement with Russian suppliers.

At the end of last week, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko announced the readiness of a certain supplier to sell 6 million tons of oil.

On Monday it became clear that the discussion was about Saudi Arabia, but the deal has not yet been announced.
