Poroshenko and Tymoshenko are fighting for yesterday
The struggle between candidates for the post of President of Ukraine is for the conservative nationalist electorate and is aimed at reducing turnout.
This opinion was expressed on the NewsOne TV channel by political scientist Andrei Mishin, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He noted that the current President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and presidential candidate Yulia Tymoshenko are fighting for the electorate.
“The fight is for the weak electorate, and the fight is to reduce turnout,” Mishin believes.
He compared Ukraine with the Russian Federation, where there are also no supporters of liberal ideas.
“If we take Ukraine as a mirror of Russian authoritarianism, then we are talking about the fact that we have almost no liberal electorate in Russia. We have conservatives. Apart from Rabinovich’s party, I cannot name any liberal projects in Ukraine – not a single one. There are a little bit social-democratic,” the political scientist added.
“Basically everyone plays on the conservative national field,” Mishin states.
We would like to remind you that PolitNavigator previously reported that Ukrainian elections will be held under pressure from nationalists.
