Poroshenko announced that Ukraine is about to receive half a billion euros from the EU
Ukraine will receive 500 million euros of macro-financial assistance from the European Union in the very near future, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko stated this during a briefing in Helsinki, the press service of the head of Ukraine reports.
“We discussed with the Vice-President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis that 500 million in macro-financial assistance will be allocated in the near future, in a matter of weeks. Assistance will be provided in cooperation with the International Monetary Fund,” Poroshenko said.
Let us recall that in September Ukraine and the EU signed an agreement to provide financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 1 billion euros.
Subsequently, the Ministry of Finance announced that Ukraine will receive the first tranche of macro-financial assistance from the EU in the amount of 500 million euros in the fall, and the second tranche for the same amount in the spring of 2019.
At the same time, the rating agency Fitch Ratings predicted that Ukraine will most likely receive the first tranche of 500 million euros from the European Union and World Bank guarantees for $650 million after the IMF Board of Directors makes a decision regarding Ukraine. And Ukraine may receive the first tranche under the Stand-By agreement with the IMF before the end of the year, depending on the timing of approval of the 2019 budget.
